About Us

The Summer Marching Academy was formed as a partnership in summer of 2002 in Tempe, Arizona by Scott Lang, Jon Gomez, Patrick Sheridan and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser in response to the significant need for student leadership development products and services. Using Southwest Leadership Summit, a decade old leadership camp as the genesis, co-founders Scott Lang and Jon Gomez decided to evolve the camp outside of it’s students musician roots into something more educationally global in nature. At the urging of Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, President of Attitude Concepts for Today and twenty year veteran in the motivational speaking as an informational resource, the decision was made to share what we had learned with other educators in hopes of making a difference in the lives of young people.

Our successful experience in the development of student leadership is substantial. While our team is relatively new, our track record of success is not. As individuals, we have risen to the top of our respective fields and achieved accolades which few peers can match.
